What Can a Lip Lift Treat?

While Botox, chemical peels, and skincare can help reduce lip lines, a lip lift is a more definitive treatment for a long upper lip. Benefits of undergoing a lip lift include:

  • Improved lip proportions
  • Increased upper lip “show” (gives the appearance of more volume)
  • Corrects lip asymmetry

Expectations

How is a Lip Lift Performed?

Step 1: Consultation

Dr. Johnson discusses your medical history and desired results before you undergo a lip lift. She examines your lips, chin, jaw, and face and uses in office photos to discuss if the treatment is right for you. She may combine a lip lift with other aesthetic treatments to achieve the facial contours you long for.

Step 2: Procedure

During lip lift surgery, you receive numbing medicine to prevent discomfort. An incision is made just below your nose and the excess skin is removed. Dr. Johnson then closes the area to ensure aesthetic goals are met and the incision stay hidden in your natural crease.

Step 3: Recovery

After your procedure, you may have some temporary bruising, redness, swelling, or tenderness. Take medicines as directed, keep the treatment area clean, and get plenty of rest. It is recommended to follow a liquid diet for 1-2 days after the procedure. You will also be advised to avoid the use of straws.
